The reaper gets
his own notice.

Ram Carnes makes a living telling people they have twenty-four hours left to live. Then the Death Notification Agency puts his name on the list.

WELCOME TO THE AGENCY

Death is a
government
service.

The Agency says its predictions never fail. Reapers deliver the notices. Holograms offer reassurance. Appeals come with a catch: they’re investigated after you’re dead.

Ram has been on the payroll for more than a decade. After work, there’s Nasty Nate’s.

RAM CARNES / REAPER

A man with
plenty to
answer for.

A former Marine with a wrecked marriage and two estranged children, Ram wants enough time to put something right.

He’ll need Camille, a DNA insider with her own reasons to fight. Trust comes less easily than pulling a trigger.

Camille drives a red Ferrari while Ram fires from the passenger seat beneath a vivid orange and violet sunset.

THE ROAD TO THE TOMBSTONE

The answers are in New York.
So are the people hunting him.

From Hollywood, Florida, to the Tombstone: the former Empire State Building, now the Agency’s headquarters. Ram is going to find the people behind his notice.

Ram and Camille’s red Ferrari races between airborne Agency cars on a curving highway.
FLORIDA BLACKTOP
The former Empire State Building towers over future Manhattan, crowned with the Agency’s glowing DNA sign.
THE TOMBSTONE / MANHATTAN

Airborne pursuit, armed Auditors and a highway ambush stand between him and Manhattan. The Agency is still open for business.

SCREEN ADAPTATION

For film and television.

In a future where the government predicts every citizen’s exact time of death, cynical death-notice server Ram Carnes has 24 hours to race from Florida to New York, breach the agency’s headquarters and discover why its infallible system has marked him to die.

Source material: three illustrated novellas.

A profane, damaged action lead

A forty-seven-year-old ex-Marine in an aloha shirt, fighting for enough time to face the family he’s failed. Ram meets his death notice with a foul mouth and a short fuse.

The bureaucracy of dying

Death notices, armed Auditors and appeals investigated after death turn familiar government bureaucracy into black comedy.

From Florida blacktop to a Manhattan siege

A red Ferrari under airborne pursuit. A plane crash. A settlement beneath the Bronx. The chase leads to an assault on the former Empire State Building.
