MIDNIGHT99

Lizards don’t die. This one did.

An enormous reptilian overlord lies slumped on a golden toilet in an extravagant hotel bathroom.

The case of the big dead lizard

The victim was supposed to be immortal.

It’s 4:44 a.m. at the Ziggurat Hotel and Casino. Tulsa Kalhoun wakes up beside a dead alien overlord named Doug. She has mysterious bruises, a hazy memory and excellent reasons to leave.

Now the disgraced journalist and interdimensional drug dealer has a murder to solve. Before the convention ends. Before the suspects scatter. Preferably before anyone kills her.

Tulsa and her red-haired, emerald-scaled ex Lucy share a guarded moment at the carousel bar.

Unfinished business

Her ex is on
the suspect list.

Lucy Nash was the love of Tulsa’s life. Then the drug Midnight 99 opened Tulsa’s eyes to the aliens living among us—and to the reptilian dynasty her girlfriend belonged to.

Three years later, Lucy is back within kissing distance. Tulsa still wants her. She also needs to find out whether Lucy killed Doug.

Heartbreak was simpler.

Reptilian salesmen pitch Earth to an audience of alien tourists at a secret convention.

A cosmic
murder
mystery.

  • One corpse. One weekend. One very big con.

Tulsa wakes beside an unkillable alien overlord’s corpse and must find his killer before a secret Vegas convention ends; every answer exposes a larger scheme with Earth itself on the table.

  • A lead role with a unique voice

Tulsa Kalhoun is a genderfluid gonzo journalist, drug dealer and catastrophically unreliable detective whose comic bravado masks addiction, heartbreak and a genuine capacity for heroism.

  • Psychedelic satire in plain sight

Gangster Greys, reptilian elites and cosmic narcotics recast Big Tech, the climate crisis and conspiracy culture as a bold, instantly recognisable screen world.

  • A love story beneath the mayhem

Tulsa’s unfinished romance with reptilian heiress Lucy gives the mystery an emotional centre, while Tulsa’s choice to face sobriety turns saving Earth into a deeply personal act of courage.
